Myanmar at Bimstec meet, US conveys reservations to India

While calling for efforts to boost intra-Bimstec trade and economic ties, foreign minister S Jaishankar underlined the need for member-states to collectively fight terrorism, extremism and transnational crimes. At a ministerial meeting ahead of the summit on Wednesday, Jaishankar said developments in Ukraine had added to the international disquiet and that maintenance of international peace and stability could no longer be taken for granted.
