3 weeks of China scare, no Covid rise in India

Nearly three weeks after Indian health authorities stepped up vigil in the wake of a major Covid-19 surge in China, there’s no sign of an uptick in infections in the country. The week ending Sunday saw a slight decline in fresh cases in India after two weeks of a marginal rise, with overall numbers remaining extremely low.

SC raps MP govt over detention of doc under NSA, nixes order

Holding it mandatory for a government authority to expeditiously deal with and communicate its decision on a representation made by a person against preventive detention, the Supreme Court on Friday invalidated an order passed by Madhya Pradesh government against a doctor after noting that no decision was taken on his representation for two months.
