Retd Major held for running over girl feeding dogs

A retired Major was Monday arrested in Mohali for a hit-and-run two days ago in which his allegedly speeding SUV left a 25-year-old woman feeding stray dogs by the roadside grievously wounded.

SC raps MP govt over detention of doc under NSA, nixes order

Holding it mandatory for a government authority to expeditiously deal with and communicate its decision on a representation made by a person against preventive detention, the Supreme Court on Friday invalidated an order passed by Madhya Pradesh government against a doctor after noting that no decision was taken on his representation for two months.
