In U-turn, Nitish govt to pay ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh for ‘proven’ hooch deaths since 2016 in Bihar
His apparent change of heart came with the strict condition that retrospective ex gratia would be paid only if families of the deceased produced verifiable evidence that the deaths were caused by consumption of hooch. The claimants are also required to reveal in writing the source of liquor.
