Botched surgery kills Tamil Nadu teen footballer Priya R, two doctors suspended

Teenage footballer Priya R died of multi-organ failure Tuesday morning following complications from a botched surgery to fix a painful ligament at a government hospital in Chennai on November 7 that led to two follow-up operations, including amputation of her right leg above the knee.

SC raps MP govt over detention of doc under NSA, nixes order

Holding it mandatory for a government authority to expeditiously deal with and communicate its decision on a representation made by a person against preventive detention, the Supreme Court on Friday invalidated an order passed by Madhya Pradesh government against a doctor after noting that no decision was taken on his representation for two months.
