CRPF officer moved in to control Delhi riots

In a surprise move, the ministry of home affairs on Tuesday evening posted 1985-batch IPS officer SN Shrivastava as the chief of law & order in Delhi. He was serving as special director general in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

SC raps MP govt over detention of doc under NSA, nixes order

Holding it mandatory for a government authority to expeditiously deal with and communicate its decision on a representation made by a person against preventive detention, the Supreme Court on Friday invalidated an order passed by Madhya Pradesh government against a doctor after noting that no decision was taken on his representation for two months.
