Delhi govt may sack all 10,000 plus civil defence volunteers

Over 10,000 civil defense volunteers in Delhi, whose salaries have been withheld since April, may have their services terminated. Initially, the proposal was to remove 189 volunteers from the revenue department, but Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal suggested terminating the services of all volunteers until the legal position on their employment is clarified. The volunteers, who are engaged in various departments, including transportation and revenue, have been protesting for the release of their salaries. Kejriwal also recommended future recruitment of volunteers be done through a proper exercise, rather than ad hoc methods.
