Gynaecologist acquitted in sex determination test case

Ruling that the cardinal principle of criminal jurisprudence is that no innocent person should be punished, observing that as per the PCPNDT (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques) Rules an undertaking from pregnant woman acting as a decoy is required to be taken, a magistrate's court acquitted 56-year-old Chembur gynaecologist, Dr Vijay Kedare, and a nurse booked after an alleged sting operation at their clinic revealed that they were conducting sex-determination tests in 2018.
