As nerve disorder cases in Mumbai surge, doctors suspect a link to viral infections

The city is experiencing an unusual surge in Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) cases, a rare autoimmune neurological disorder in which the body's immune system begins to attack the peripheral nervous system. Doctors estimate the incidence is at least 30-50% higher than the usual numbers seen during the monsoon season when GBS cases typically increase slightly.
