475 in mental hosp for 10 yrs, HC asks if all need to be there

Expressing concern that 475 patients are in the state's four regional mental hospitals for more than 10 years, the Bombay high court has sought information about their fitness and questioned whether they still needed to remain in hospital.

SC raps MP govt over detention of doc under NSA, nixes order

Holding it mandatory for a government authority to expeditiously deal with and communicate its decision on a representation made by a person against preventive detention, the Supreme Court on Friday invalidated an order passed by Madhya Pradesh government against a doctor after noting that no decision was taken on his representation for two months.
