People gasping, let’s make it a safe winter: Delhi HC

The Delhi High Court has urged civic bodies to take care of trees in preparation for the approaching winter season. The court expressed surprise at a report from the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), which claimed to have removed only 28 concretised trees. The court called this figure too low and instructed CPWD to take immediate action to preserve trees. The court also requested further reports from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and CPWD on the number of trees freed from concrete. Last year, the court compared the concretisation of trees to human rights abuse.
