'Kid crossed road alone': HC frees cabbie in accident case

A 45-year-old taxi driver was acquitted by a magistrate's court in Mumbai after being accused of ramming into an eight-year-old boy at Malabar Hill in 2019. The boy, who had deposed in court and identified the driver, sustained a fractured leg. The court observed that it was not safe for the boy to cross the road alone and that the possibility of his negligence cannot be ruled out. The magistrate stated that there were doubts regarding the identification of the accused and the circumstances of the accident, leading to the driver's acquittal.
