Maharashtra govt draws policy to align with NEP; alters age to enter school
The state government is altering admission norms to align with the NEP 2020 rules. The new age policy, being developed in collaboration with the child development ministry, will require children to be at least 3 years old when they enter school. The Early Childhood Association has urged the government to declare 3 years as the minimum age for kindergarten entry. Educationists emphasize the importance of age in language, social, and emotional development, as well as the ability to take turns in preschool.
