Maha sidesteps GoI rules, imports Chinese products at higher cost

Maharashtra's DVET imported LCD interactive panels worth crores from China's BenQ, bypassing the 'Make in India' preference on the government e-marketplace. The procurement process was manipulated to favor BenQ, with all qualified bidders offering BenQ panels. The DVET broke up the order into smaller lots to avoid seeking clearance for the procurement bill.
