Lighting of lamps and Lakshmi Puja ritual to mark Diwali celebration on Sunday

The city skyline resembled a glittering fairy land Saturday as people strung colourful bulbs and lanterns from windows and balconies to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights. The occasional burst of aerial fireworks afforded a son et lumiere show that lit up the heavens like shooting stars.
